Alumni News - James Averette, Class of 2015
On May 22, 2020, James Averette (KVA Class of 2015) graduated and commissioned from the United States Naval Academy. James earned a Bachelor of Science Degree, and has been selected to serve as a Nuclear Surface Warfare Officer. A tradition that dates back to the 19th century holds that a newly commissioned Ensign receives his first salute from an enlisted person or midshipman. James was honored to have Sergeant Pierce Tooley (KVA Class of 2014) render his first salute. Pierce is the Marine Corp Recruiter for all of Granville, Person and northern Durham counties.
