George Michael Dawson Teacher Appreciation Award

The George Michael Dawson Teacher Appreciation Award was started in celebration of Mr. Dawson, a math teacher at Kerr-Vance Academy who instilled the indispensable values of hard work and self-discipline into his students. Each year, the award is given to a teacher who rises above the rest in regards to their compassion and determination to see their students succeed. The recipient of the award is decided upon by an anonymous vote of the student government.

This year’s recipient is none other than Mrs. Julie Moseley.

Mrs. Moseley is cherished by her students, high school and lower school. She joined the faculty in 2006, and has just completed her fourteenth year of educating Spartans. She currently teaches third and fourth grade, but when outstanding circumstances arose in the middle of the year, she stepped up to the plate and took charge of the AP Psychology class. This is only one example of her selflessness and commitment to Kerr-Vance Academy.

I, personally, had the privilege of having her as a teacher in third grade and a swim coach in the eleventh and twelfth grades. She is a beacon of instruction in the classroom and a champion supporter on the poolside.

On behalf of the student body of Kerr-Vance, thank you, Mrs. Moseley, for your years of commitment to us and to the entire institution of our school.
