Soccer Spartans Fall Short of State Title

Spartans defeated 3-0 by The Burlington School

The KVA Spartans entered Saturday's match against The Burlington School seeking a third straight NCISAA 1A state title but it was not meant to be. Despite controlling the ball and having an advantage in shots attempted, the Spartans could not shake the sticky TBS defense. The shots simply would not fall. They also battled the intense heat with limited substitutions for forty minutes but eventually fell 3-0. Coaches Teagan and Farmer expressed their gratitude for this Spartan team which featured several new players mixed with veterans. The squad improved as the year went on with balanced defense and offense. Congratulations to the team and coaches for a stellar year.
